Now You’re Cooking- Maine Spotlight

I received a gift card to Now You’re Cooking two years ago right before we sold our house. It sat in my wallet since then because I wanted to save it for my new kitchen, whenever that was going to happen. We are finally in that new house with a new kitchen and we happened to have a grandmother here to hang out with the boys. Mister and I enjoyed a great lunch in Downtown Bath and then ventured over to Now You’re Cooking. OH why did I wait so long!

The first thing I stopped and took in was the wall of kitchen tools. I was debating on a new whisk and even carried it around the store for a while. I ended up putting it back but there were tons of options and styles. I then remembered one of the items I had in my mental gift list, an oil sprayer. Mister and I perused while on a mission to find it. We continued through the store and found ourselves in the appliance and cookware area. So many different models and sizes of pressure cookers, rice cookers, blenders, pots, pans and cast iron.  We continued to file through the store when our noses directed us to the open kitchen area and one of the super friendly employees invited us to enjoy a fresh croissant, sour dough bread or pound cake.  I tried the croissant with strawberry basil jam and was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed it.

I asked the gal in the kitchen about the oil sprayer and she took us right to the spot. I was very excited to get this as I saw local author and chef recommend it at the library this past summer. The author wrote the book Green Plate Special and I found myself relating to the methods and recipes so much. She also directed me to the book Green Plate Special and I tucked it in my arm to purchase along with the sprayer.  I’ll write more about this fantastic book soon.

We continued to meander through the store taking in the wide selection of Le Creuset cookware, the variety of cloth napkins, professional knives, aprons and kitchen cloths and towels. I got in line to purchase my oil sprayer, cookbook and bamboo tongs and knew I’d be back again should I have a chance to shop without little boys in tow. Even though it was such a welcoming store it wouldn’t be a big deal to bring them in, I think I’ll keep Now You’re Cooking as a destination for Mommy (and/or Daddy) only. Hitting up one of the many nearby coffee shops or restaurants in Downtown Bath would make it  a valid day date for the future.
