Spring time often brings a sense of restlessness for homeschoolers. We know there is still time in the school year but we want to get outside. Perhaps eager little ones have finished workbooks and need something else to keep a bit of structure for their school days. Am I alone in this scenario?
I have a mutual friend to the author of Learning Alphabetically so when I heard about this fantastic guide for at home learning I couldn’t wait to review it. Each letter of the alphabet has a through list of items to include in a Letter Box, musical instruments to enjoy, arts and crafts activities, and food to highlight the letter. Each letter also includes Bible verses and references, science, history, geography, arithmetic, language arts, field trips and physical activities that incorporate the letter.
After each letter of the alphabet is highlighted there are reproducible pages to take the letter study to focus on animals, the child’s favorites, field trip journal pages, geography journal pages, language arts and science pages. I look forward to using these pages and giving them on clipboards to my boys to take on field trips to continue learning about the letters of that study.
Learning Alphabetically is thorough, inviting and very down to earth and easy to use. Anyone from a new homeschool parent to a veteran could find a way to incorporate this book into their day. It is a wonderful tool for a preschool or kindergartner to start their letters but also to include older siblings with activities, books to read, Bible character studies, or field trips.
