To read more about how my garden is growing this season check out my past Garden Journals from this season:

Welcome to my bed of weeds, I mean, garden! I got back from a week away and despite my efforts to weed and mulch to make it easier when I get home, I have lots of weeding to do. We have had tons of rain and tons of sun and tons of heat so these plants are going into power mode. Lets go see what is growing!
Beans
The two tiny rows of bush beans and the pole beans are doing great. The pole beans have needed a bit of training but they are growing well and ready to climb.

Zucchini
My two plants are growing well! Especially compared to last year I am thrilled to even have some blossoms. Maverick was helping me today.

Broccoli
These put on a huge amount of growth in the week I was gone. Working keeping them weeded well.

Garlic
I recently watched a video that reminded me that garlic doesn’t like a lot of weed pressure (really what plant does) so I failed on this fact this year but will aim to weed and mulch better next year. I’ll probably put in a cover crop when these get pulled.
Tomatoes
Even though they started small they are putting on growth now. I did buy an organic fertilizer that I’ll give them soon just to give them a boost. I did see the first blooms so that was exciting. The volunteer plants in the cabbage bed are doing well. I may thin them a bit.

Butternut squash
These plants are really busting and trying to climb on up the arches.

Cabbage
Despite a lot of pest pressure and swiss cheese looking leaves they are starting to form heads. I’ll probably sprinkle some diatomaceous earth this week.

Raspberries
We harvested a quart yesterday in just a few minutes! They are delicious!

Potatoes
We have had a lot of bug issues but the plants are working hard. I’ve got to research the bugs specifically as I don’t remember them when I grew potatoes a few years ago.

Beets
The beets are growing well! I need to thin my planting a bit but they are growing well.

Cucumbers
The cuke bed is exploding. They are loving the heat!

Carrots
Growing great! I plan to put in a couple of small rows for a fall planting soon.

Onions
The weeds are going nutso but the onions are growing well.
Flowers
This has been a very good year for containers for me! I love the colors and combos I planted and the petunias I started from seed are putting on a big show. I may need to trim them soon and help them put on some more growth for the rest of the season. The drip watering system is doing great.

Thanks for stopping by the garden! I hope you are having a wonderful summer and if you are growing things I hope you are learning lots!
