Popovers are one of my moms favorites. My boys will jump up and down when I tell them I’m making them. They are so simple, yet so delicious and can be a great partner to soup or smothered in jam with breakfast. Making them always takes me back to our visit to Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. I hope to get there this summer and share our visit with you all. The Jordan Pond House is famous for it’s popovers enjoyed with a beautiful scenic view of Jordan Pond.

You can make them at home for a fraction of the cost and don’t have to work through any seasonal summer traffic. No need for a special pan, popovers are unique, simple, and have a lovely presentation. Enjoy!
Always Pop Popovers
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. While the oven is preheating, cube butter and place a small cube in all twelve cups and place in the oven.

Whisk eggs until frothy. Add milk and combine.

Add flour and salt and whisk until there are only a few lumps. Do not overmix.

Take pan out of oven, carefully use a pastry brush to distribute the melted butter with in muffin cup and on the top of the muffin tin.

Pour batter into each muffin cup, a little over half way full.
Place in the oven. Cook at 450 for 15 minutes, then drop heat to 325 for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the popovers are golden brown .

If you can keep your hands off of them let your pop overs set for a couple of minutes, loosen from pan with a butter knife if necessary. Enjoy with butter along side soup or with jam as a delicious breakfast.

They are delicious as is! I’ve never had a popover before. This is the easiest “bread” recipe I’ve ever made. I’ll use them for dinner rolls, breakfast bread, and everything in between. Thanks for the recipe!
I am so glad you enjoy them. I love sharing a bit of Maine with folks and one that is so multi purpose is even better!
