Misfits Market Review

Today I’m sharing one of my new favorite things with you all, Misfits Market! I have received two boxes and wanted to share how wonderful they are after I had used the service more than once. 

Ordering    

Ordering was super easy. I had a quick question about ordering and they responded within an hour.  There are two options for sizes. Even though we have a family of 6, I opted for the small, starter box, The Mischief, which is slotted for fruits and veggies for 2 people for a week. Every box can be different, organic seasonal produce. Considering that I don’t typically buy organic on my regular grocery shopping this is a win win. It is delivered directly to my door and is affordable. Starting and stopping the subscription is very easy, I have mine set to every other week.

What Day Do I Choose?

  I set it to come on Wednesdays, a day I’m typically home and is before I go grocery shopping on the weekend. This way I can meal plan based on what I get in the box and adjust my shopping. Even if I wasn’t home for the day the box is being delivered it’s not a big deal. The box is well insulated and has several ice packs to keep the items fresh.

What did I get?

In my second box I received:

2 zucchini

1 mango

3 jalapenos

3 gala apples

1pint  heirloom cherry tomatoes

1 bunch of red kale

1 eggplant

5 tiny beets

3 red onions

2 green bell peppers

4 limes

2 plouts

What will I make?

I’m planning that we’ll snack on the mango, apples, and pluots. I will roast the beets on Sunday. Bell peppers, onions and jalapenos will go in a chili. I’m hoping to make some zucchini muffins for the weekend ahead. I just bought a giant can of tomatoes so if I have room for it in the freezer, I may make a big batch of sauce and include the eggplant in that. Diced up small and if I use the immersion blender no one will ever know it’s in there. We aren’t huge fans of eggplant. Cherry tomatoes will go in breakfast of scrambled eggs and feta or in salads.

What I love

-ease of ordering

-it is affordable organic produce

-it encourages my kids to try new fruits and veggies. They get excited when the box is on the step and seem more willing to try it since it came from the box.

-The entire concept is to reduce waste and I’m all about that.
