I knew I’d be driving by the Fairfield exit the following day so I called my Dad and asked if he’d like to join the boys and I for breakfast. He of course said yes as he enjoys eating out and loves seeing his grandsons. We decided on Big G’s deli. I had eaten here for their famous sandwiches in years past and was excited to try a new menu.

Driving in the parking lot, Mr.2 spilled my coffee on me but all was ok when we walked in and smelled the fresh baked bread. Big G’s is known for their many varieties of huge loaves of scratch made bread. The boys all decided on pancakes and I ordered a “Poor George” omelet with provolone, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. We also grabbed a raspberry muffin to share. The orders came out and my boys’ eyes were as big as the pancakes! I didn’t need to order three plates of the Yosemite Sam for the three youngest. Two plates of the four, very large silver dollar pancakes would have been plenty for everyone to be satisfied.

We got right to work at our breakfast. My toast was quickly slathered with butter and enjoyed alongside the omelet and hasbrowns. The boys got the syrup out and only stopped eating enough to tell us how delicious it was. Mr. 4 was ready to run shortly after filling his belly. The relaxed atmosphere and the fact that we were there well after their morning rush, allowed for him to play in a nearby booth without worry of interrupting another diner’s meal.

For lunches my go to is the “Bebe Robozo” a wrap made with roast beef, marinated mushrooms and onions. The sandwiches and wraps are very large so definitely plan to bring some home for another meal. Also be sure to grab and share one of their super sized whoopie pies or cookies.
While I was filling up our courtesy cups of water (this mama doesn’t buy drinks when we are out to eat. That adds up fast!) I noticed a shelf with bags of Big G’s renowned bread. I snagged a bag of the ends of their huge loaves for only $3! I love using leftover bread for croutons, such a good way to use up what you have and enjoying it another way. See my method for making croutons here.

If you are looking for a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner I highly recommend Big G’s deli in Fairfield. Large portions, great for sharing or bringing home for another meal and solid pricing with fresh ingredients. There are lots of things to do in the Fairfield /Waterville area so grab a spring day and go explore!
