Your Mother’s Day Celebration

Do your kids or your husband ask you “what would you like for Mothers day?” every year and you sort of stare blankly? When we are put on the spot it can be hard to pin point what our requests are especially if we are asked when we are cooking dinner or changing a diaper. When we do think of something its often just after Daddy leaves for work or our head is about to hit the pillow.  Here is a list of some things I personally have or would love to receive for Mothers Day. Some are physical items and some are experiences, some are super budget friendly and some are to be saved for and maybe enjoyed at a future date.

 Massage

I really enjoy massages if I have a muscle issue I’m working on or not. This is a great way to support a local business and many massage therapists offer promotions on Groupon or for Mothers Day.

Pedicure

Two of my closest mom friends and I are aiming to have an afternoon out together to get pedicures and grab a meal. We aren’t sure when our schedules will align but hopefully soon. My toes are ready for spring time!

Bath for Bedtime Swap

Either Daddy or Grandma (She’d love to celebrate mother’s day with the grands) comes over and puts the kids to bed while you soak in the tub. Light a candle, put on some music or show on your phone and keep it loud enough to drown out the sounds of the house. Ahhhhhh…..

Books

I’m currently reading this title and I am finding myself getting up to bed earlier so I can read longer. It’s a great one especially if you are an Anne of Green Gables fan.

Even if you aren’t a homeschooling mom you can enjoy these two.  I wish I had read them when I first started homeschooling.

Hike and picnic

I remember sharing Mothers Day at Cascade Park in Bangor when I was a kid. We packed lunch and enjoyed a walk all together. This happens to be where Mister asked me to be his wife so I sort of love this spot off of Downtown Bangor. If the sun is shining wherever you live on Mother’s Day, find a trail, pack a meal or grab some take out and some treats and call it a day!

Speaking of treats….

Megs Sweets is baking up amazing creations in Farmington, Maine and her Triple Threat Bars are something I HAVE to get my hands on soon. Brownie bottom, cheesecake filled, cookie dough topped is something dreams are made of, she even crafts gluten free treats! Find Meg on Facebook

Family Portraits

A photo session for Mothers Day is a great way to make everyone smile. You can easily say “This is my gift, don’t ruin it for Mommy!” and hopefully they’ll smile and then you can all go out and get ice cream after. Here are a few photographers around Maine who I know and love.

Home Items

Rustic Rose Design- I have my eyes on some of the hand painted signs made by Rustic Rose Designs. I found her work on Instagram and I absolutely love how bright but simple her work is. Supporting a small business makes it even better. Order by May 3rd for arrival by Mother’s Day

Instant Pot

You all know how much I love my Instant Pot. If you are a cook and have the space for one in your home I highly recommend an IP. I am not a gadget person so I don’t want things taking up kitchen real estate unless it has multi uses and can save me time and the Instant Pot does all that.

Apparel

CFC Wear – I have seen this company on IG for a while and absolutely love their designs! Another local Maine business for the win!

The Willie Wags- While we were camping last summer I saw a friend with this super cute hat.  Not only did I realize how adorable the hat was but I really could have used a hat I enjoyed wearing as my camp hair was not of the super cute casual sort.  That friend directed me to this great store in Bangor (and online) to order wonderful Maine made products by small women run businesses. I try to swing in if I’m up in that area!

  1. I could SO go for a massage for Mother’s Day! One day of pampering is a great way to spend a day celebrating mothers. Thanks for the ideas 🙂

  2. Great list! After always taking care of others, it can be hard to put ourselves first and think of what we really want! I love my instant pot and a good massage!
