It’s our first break week of our CC year. Wow, 6 weeks into the year has gone by fast! I really enjoy the six weeks on one week of schedule that we follow with Classical Conversations. I like to take advantage of the break week to take a bit of extra time dedicated to reviewing the past 6 weeks. My goal is to get everything for Essentials done as if it was a regular week use the extra time to review charts and hit the new grammar hard. Here are my favorite ways to get in those extra review sessions for break week or during the year.
Candy Land-
the colors of the game match up perfectly with the colors of the review cards. We just play the game with the regular and when it’s your turn you move your piece and then answer the week on that colored card.
Chocolate Chip Trip-
a small bowl of mini chocolate chips for each person playing. The geography location is said and the chocolate chip goes on that spot. Go through the list of locations so the map is fairly covered then go back through and each chocolate chip off as you get to each spot.
CC Student Tutorials-
We use the student tutorials on the computer to get review in sometimes. The boys all hover over the computer and run through a couple of weeks. It’s great for transition times during school to keep things moving so no one is getting too distracted to get back on track for school.
Write it out-
Use pieces of memory work for handwriting practice.
Get moving-
Shuffle the review cards for the weeks you are reviewing and have everyone choose a movement each time you select one and say it out loud all together.
