This recipe is straight from one of my favorite cookbooks, Cooking Down East by Marjorie Standish. This is classic in it’s method and flavors and a great way to use up some apples from apple picking. This could be made into muffins, can be doubled, and freezes wonderfully.

Straight from Marjorie Standish's Cooking Down East , this Raw Apple Bread recipe is the perfect way to enjoy fall apples.
Cream margarine (or butter).
Gradually add sugar followed by eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Beat until mixture is light in color and creamy.
Mix in chopped apple.
Add dry ingredients, followed by nuts. Mix until combined.
Pour mixture into greased and lined loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour

This looks delicious! I love baked apples, it just fills the house with a wonderful fall smell. I’m always looking for new ways to bake apples. I will be saving this recipe to try later.
