One on one time with snuggles and small talk are the best way to finish the day.

Bedtime can be stressful. Even if your children go to bed with a simple story and kiss it can still be one of those things that you find yourself putting off after dinner. I cant be the only mom who mindlessly scrolls Instagram from 6:55-7:15 waiting for the kids to bathe, dress and brush their teeth by themselves. Mr3 has had a history of rough bedtimes since he switched from a crib to a bed. He also needs a lot of physical attention so Mister and I spend a lot of time laying down with him until he’s settled. Add in many cries of dehydration and supposed nightmares, bedtime can be long and drawn out when I have the least amount of energy.
Just a few nights ago I was snuggling Mr3 and God put it on my heart to climb the top bunk to be with Mr2 and give him some one on one time. I am so glad I listened. I always say good night with a kiss but no more than that. The first night I climbed up the ladder and Mr2 said “Mom, what are you doing?” I replied “I thought I’d come up and give you a snuggle, is that ok?” He got a big smile on his face and nodded. The second night I made the climb up he excitedly grinned and made room on his bunk.
I was initially selfishly concerned that my being up there would delay Mr3’s bedtime but God really took care of that. I listened to his suggestion and he made it all right. I’m not saying every night will go as smoothly but the time I gave Mr2 was so valuable I look forward to climbing that top bunk again tonight.

This is a super sweet thing to do. I love how the simplest things make our kids happy.
These moments are so precious. Sometimes the simple gestures create the best memories! 😀
This made my heart melt! I love how the it seemed like the other kid was waiting for you in the top of that bunk bed! I’m one of four kids and I can say my mom and dad tried their best at making us all feel equal and it really is the attempt that matters.
It’s those little moments when you least expect it that make the best memories! I love it! I am always trying to sneak in little moments with my kids!
Very sweet post! Mom of 6 kids here and even the smallest bit of time to each individual child makes a difference.
