Universal Bread Bakers

This blog post will be short and sweet because honestly the best things in life are especially when it comes to food.

I completely stumbled on Universal Bread in Waterville. I had attended a performance at the Waterville Opera House and mentioned to a friend that we were going to go run some errands. She said she was going to go get bread. My ears perked up and she gave me rough directions. As my boys and I walked back to the parking lot we realized we were right on Temple Street and found the tiny storefront.

We walked in and the smell of fresh bread was rich. Universal Bread offers three different breads French batards, baguettes, and boules, in limited supply each day. Different days determine other specific types of bread. We went in on a Wednesday, whole wheat day. A rack of fresh loaves stands behind the counter where they take cash or check only. We picked out a baguette and batard to take home. The baguette was enjoyed for that nights dinner and the batard was well wrapped and stored in the freezer. I know I will be adding Universal Bread to my list of errands in Waterville in the future. Go check them out!
