If you’ve been here for long you know that our family enjoys reading books aloud. I just took down our bins of Christmas decorations and the first thing to come out is the stack of Christmas stories we love. There is something special about stories that only come out for about a month a year. We give a special attention to slowing down and enjoying them while snow falls outside and we sip warm cocoa. Cranberry Christmas-
A sweet story of Mr. Whiskers, Grandmother and Maggie in the town of Cranberryport. It includes a recipe for cookies we bake every year.
The Three Trees-
Just last year we added this to our stash. It’s a wonderful folk tale of three trees with three different humble destinations, one being for a King.
The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree-
Any story illustrated by Barbara Cooney has a piece of my heart. This tale is one that highlights the power of family.
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey-
Another story we added just last year. This story is beautifully illustrated as it tells a story of Jonathan Toomey, a young widow and her son.
The Little Drummer Boy-
Ezra Jack Keats illustrations beautifully move through the classic Christmas song. The illustrations speak more than the words on the page and really connect the lyrics for young readers.
Father and Son a Nativity Story-
I purchased this book because it highlights the father son relationship. The author shares her thoughts on what it was like for Joseph as he held baby Jesus in his arms.
1001 Things to Spot at Christmas-
A great title from Usborne books. My little boys enjoy this seek and find books especially during school time.
